Autumn leaves on the line.

Well having just returned from four weeks travelling around France in the camper van, yes very nice thank you, a little bit of work was required on the BLL to ensure safe systems of work are in place for future running.
Walking the track I identified some undergrowth that needed trimming back, well after 4 weeks absence I would expect nothing less, a drooping lupin required some serious surgery but overall things didn't seem too bad.

A test run with 'Dennis the Diesel' produced a few more 'minor' wrinkles, mainly due to ballast that had come adrift and was now affecting the wheel trim of the rolling stock. So more track walking in an attempt to remove these 'little misdemeanours'! In addition it looks like  some modifications to the removable bridge may be required as the shims I had attached now produce a slight bump at each end, not enough to cancel the train timetable (!) but work will take place to eradicate these issues.

On the plus side, and they're always has to be some, since returning home I have managed to complete and fit out two new lineside structures i.e 'Holly Halt', which sits on the Sheepham Straight

... and 'Bugis Station' which will be located on the Southern curve. Both these structures are made from resin which comes as a white 'kit' and then I decorate and name them, further to consultation and with the assistance of the  'Fat Controller' - oops, 'Senior Director!!!

I still have a couple of metres of ballast to lay but await a couple of good days of weather to enable me to complete that.

As Autumn rattles on I am sure more time will be spent in the workshop where I have several projects in hand including a Fire Station to assemble and decorate!

Incidentally the 21st October is not only Trafalgar Day, but marks 'our' first anniversary of purchasing a 16mm steam locomotive, so not bad progress so far!

PS If anybody is interested 26th October, at the Matford Centre, Exeter - is the Garden Railway Show. Details can be found on the Internet. Could be a good day out.
