You may have read that I have been building a fire station to position in pride of place on the BLL, well after 33 years Fire Service (so to speak) there has to be one!
The final gluing and painting took place and what was originally a resin kit for a small garage has become a small single pump (fire engine to the uninitiated) Fire Station. That building is now completed and in situ.
Cornwall Fire Brigade - 'and proud of it'! |
I make no apologies to serving and ex serving members of the Fire Brigade/Fire Service/Fire and Rescue Service, take your pick, for any inaccuracies that may be included - they were of course fully intentional!
Unfortunately my quest to obtain the correct scale (1:19) fire 'engine' and crew, of course , has been largely unsuccessful but I do have somebody currently working on laser printing some 'firefighters' but have yet to receive the final 'moulding'.
As for the fire engine (sticking with lay man's/persons/people/ etc etc terms) the one you see parked is a biscuit tin from Brittany - yes a biscuit tin! Devoid of crumbs I will add! (Note the registration ex Bodmin 'boys')! OOU449M was the first engine I rode and eventually drove to shouts!
Whilst out on our travels last year I came across it in a tourist emporium and after purchase promptly whipped out the biscuits and devoured them (very nice too) and set it aside ready for the BLL!
I am hoping for several reasons, that I can replace it with a more suitable UK model at a later date. If you can help then please let me know.
I have ordered some Fire Safety signs to be located on the station and have a hose drying/drill tower to construct which will be placed in the 'drill yard' astern of the station. So watch this space for more on that at a later date.
